Next up was the chargecooler. After several combinations, we found this to be the best location and orientation for it.

A custom pipe made to connect the compressor and chargecooler...

...and another custom enlargening pipe to join up the chargecooler to the inlet manifold. Also, we connected water hoses at this stage.

Water pump mounted, wired up and connected with the chargecooler and water radiator.

We cut up the pipe going from the distribution block at the back of the block to the thermostat and insterted the turbo there.

With the oil return hose connected to the back of the block, the work was finished and the only thing left was to bled the chargecooler system.

2:50 AM - everything ready for the imminent test drive.

3:40 AM - going to a remote part of the town where won't bother anyone :-).

After a lot of tweaking of cranking settings and fuel sites, we got it running but couldn't get the engine to rev above idle. It turned out that in all the rush we'd fogotten a rag in the compressor inlet (doh!).

4:30 AM - all sorted and ready for the first turbocharged test-drive and fuel map adjustment. Then we're leaving for the race... or at least that was the plan...

Unfortunately, we had to miss the first day of the race and take the inlet manifold off instead!

Copper bushes on the oil take-off had settled in and started leaking so the adapter needed further tightening and it wasn't possible with the manifold on.

After that, with most of the day behind us, we checked the condition of the spark plugs and went for the final test drive.

3 AM the following day (Sunday) - we set off for our 4th event of the 402 Street Race season.
