So, it was time to pull our spare, good, half-dismantled XU9J4Z Mi16 engine out of the garage.

We've had two of exhast manifolds - the better one will get ports cleaned up and flange skimmed.

GoodYear timing belt - it was easy to find and available, while our usual choice Gates wasn't.

The car arrived at the workshop... which is a bit untidy, but at least it's got a proper hydraulic lift ;-).

The first job was to take the hybrid short (hillclimb) gearbox off...

...and replace it with a (much longer) standard GTI 1.9 gearbox, that'll be used on the rear engine as well.
